Home of the Cougars and Warriors

Welcome to the Baboquivari Secondary Campus website! We are located in Topawa, Arizona, on the Tohono O’odham Nation, approximately one and a half hours southwest of Tucson.

Our high school and middle school’s philosophy is based on "educating the whole person—academically, emotionally, socially, and culturally," and has proved to be a winning belief.

Here at Baboquivari Secondary Campus, we are proud of our native heritage and seek to inspire and educate students not only in the Arizona State Standards, but also in their Himdag—the cultural beliefs that the Tohono O’odham live by. We offer small class sizes perfect for hands-on experiential learning and quality one-to-one time with faculty and staff.

Spend some time getting to know us. We know you’ll like what you find.

Our Vision Statement

Our graduates will acquire the knowledge and skills to excel, develop their strengths, embrace their individual and cultural identities, and lead their communities.

Our Mission Statement

To realize our vision we will:

  • espouse a holistic student centered learning environment;
  • utilize a socio-cultural responsive pedagogy and method of service;
  • provide a critically multicultural curriculum;
  • create and engage in meaningful partnerships with families and community;
  • advocate for student and staff well-being;
  • implement innovative strategies and technologies; and
  • build on the foundation of Himdag, s-wagima, and other cultural traditions to create an atmosphere of respect, inclusion, and trust that promotes intellectualism and cultivates a love of learning

…so that all our graduates are college and career ready.

A Message from Our Principal

Hello, Secondary Families!

It is with great pleasure that I announce my return to the secondary campus! I am thankful that I was able to spend the quality time that I needed following the birth of my daughter. While I do miss being with her all day, every day, I am excited to be back on campus to finish out the rest of the school year and begin planning for next year!

I would like to thank Ms. Cornell, Mr. Eleby, and Ms. Onsae for overseeing the campus during my absence. Additionally, I would like to thank Mr. Fox for coming and assisting the secondary campus.

In case you are not aware, Ms. Cornell, our assistant principal of curriculum and instruction, has transferred to the district office where she now serves as the ESSER Grants Program manager. We wish her the best of luck on her new role for BUSD!

In addition, I would like to welcome Ms. Andrea Trias, from the intermediate campus, who joined the secondary administrative team as assistant principal earlier this month. Our administrative team has had the privilege of working with Ms. Trias during our District Instructional Leadership Team meetings. She is an asset to the secondary campus, and I know she will bring valuable contributions to our campus for the remainder of the year.

We are in the home stretch of the 2021–2022 school year! I am looking forward to our eighth grade promotion and Baboquivari High School graduation, which are currently in the planning stages. More information will be coming soon!
